Don’t Give up Privilege for the black community

This is going to have to do with the show Scandal again.  Because I keep seeing a meme in the black community of *concerned* black people who have a problem with Scandal. Of course these black people are black men. ( and some black women who felt the need to “speak out”)

For some reason these black men are concerned because that black women are being taken advantage of.

I think it’s great that black men are publicly standing up for black women * sarcasm off* but as I had to ask in my other post about Olivia Pope: Why now?

When I think about all of the things that *good black men* have turned a blind eye on in regards to the degradation, abuse and shaming of black women.  Hell, what they themselves partook in I have to shake my head at the whiplash at the sudden change.

After dusting myself off and getting a neck brace for my whiplash  I tried to piece together  what was going on.

And then after reading the numerous articles and seeing the numerous videos it was made clear why people (especially some black men) disapproved of the show Scandal.

Because the president is white and male.

Like usual the only time black men can speak out about the horrors  against black women is when a white man  is doing the “hurting” (I am go to speak on the flip side of intersectionality which ironically has effects on white men too in a later post)

See in the black world, it’s not possible for black to hurt or be accountable for hurting black women.  Because of white men…..

If black men rape black women…. It’s because of racism…..

If black men degrade black women in rap videos… and good black men buy the music/don’t say anything… well that’s totes okay because…. White people…. Ahem … white men (remember in black world it’s only okay to call out white men not white women because in black world to black men white women are victims of the *evil* white man too)

So if Fitz is hitting it and quitting it with Olivia on Scandal well then black women’s welfare must be discussed because well… that’s  *racist* of course.  We must get a history lesson of how problematic that relationship can potentially be because white men throughout history have been pumping and dumping black women for years, right?

Moving along though, you must remember that in black world where everyone simply lives a unilateral existence because all the blacks are men and black men care most about racism  it is alright to talk about how *gross and wrong * it is for Olivia to be taken advantage of by that ole’ white guy.

Also in black world  It’s okay for black men to pump dump and ditch, leaving you with a child because… well because black men simply can’t  be racist because the white man has screwed them over.

When white men do it it’s racist, when black men do it… that’s just life. Right?  When black men do it it’s because black women aren’t worth marrying because the drove the black man away with their manly demands right?

Guess I’ll be the only one to call bullshit on this one.

To the black women actually getting involved with this mess (and by mess I mean the women joining hands with black men to talk this  “issue”)   I wonder why these black women suddenly have a problem. I

There were no questions when any number of black male rappers got into the public eye and called black women bitches and hoes ( only now are people noticing anything is amiss)

There was only pleading with black men to come back home when they ditched their kids

There was only blinking and blank stares and scuffling around words to be PC when black men ever damn single day pump and dump black women and leave them like used toilet paper.

There is only silence when black men happily go along with the Mandingo, “we’ve got the biggest penis hear us roar” meme. Black men were fine when white women  were objectifying them. Sexualization is okay when white women are doing the “objectifying” right?

And black women were too stupid to notice the hypocrisy.

Now you care?

Furthermore it’s funny but from what I’ve seen of the character Olivia she doesn’t seem like the normal portrayal of black women (that BET has no problem enhancing) she’s not loud she’s not overweight, she’s not poor/ghetto/ a mammy

From what I can see the biggest problem the black community and these idiot black women have is that she’s having/in love with a white president.

Hmm I wonder what would have been the reaction had he been black.

Because in black world intersectionality dictates that black men rule the roost .

What’s even worse is that these women complaining also send a message, even when the portrayal is good black women are willing to fight something that makes them not look like the savage beasts we’re so constantly portrayed as.

Similar to the feminist world that has hoodwinked black women out of being feminine for #GirlPower, the black world has hoodwinked black women out of good television roles because of #racistwhitemen.

And all because *some*  ( I’ll go ahead and give that disclaimer I don’t want to hear it later) black men can’t stand the sight of a black woman boinking a white man on screen.

But black women won’t be laughing later because they gave up their opportunities and roles, and chances to have successful careers or even support other black women with good roles because they’re busy fighting a losing battle.

Well played, black world, well played.

Check and Mate.

I will be extremely impressed and shocked if this sudden “concern” for the image and well-being of BW carries over to the more commonplace, yet ignored, enemies of BW: misogynist / colorist / racist BM. If these concerned kneegrows can grow a pair and confront other BM about the haterade they regularly throw on Black women, I will be quite pleased. It will probably never happen, but still…

Funny thing is, I have quite a few BM friends and relatives who like soaps and they LOVE Scandal and love to discuss the different plots and subplots and even take bets on what may go down the following week, BUT they are the exact opposite of the b*tch*ss men on Clutch. They like and love BW. They are supportive of BW, and in favor of BW in IRR. They aren’t pretending that most Black men are saints that are unappreciated by greedy, selfish, evil-hearted BW. In other words, they are not damaged goods. And this major difference between the lovers and the haters has not escaped my notice.

This is too true. And then the same idiots who go along with this thinking will later complain that they don’t see themselves represented in the media unless it’s negatively. There are many talented Black actresses who appear to be waiting for BM to offer them romantic leads opposite them, which is not going to happen anytime soon. And not even because most BM actors are against BW as their leading ladies. The truth is most big name movie studios and production companies avoid making movies with 2 Black leads, because they believe it will be seen as a “Black film”and turn off White audiences (who they assume are as racist as they are). The smart choice for Black actresses is to go for roles opposite non-Black actors.

Have you seen Skyfall? I loved it. And I love that Naomi Harris went for the role she wanted and didn’t foolishly wait for a role opposite a BM, and now she is the new Miss Moneypenny for the Bond franchise. This is what Black American actresses need to start doing. Stop playing the fools and put themselves first and foremost. Despite claims to the contrary, Halle Berry didn’t start getting good roles until she stopped waiting for and only reading for “Black” roles. Other Black actresses could do the same thing, but most don’t because they don’t want other BP to turn on them and call them “sell outs”. I’m not sure why they care. The majority of people who throw that phrase around wouldn’t piss on a BW if she were on fire anyway.

Even Black actors that are pro-BW (Denzel Washington) aren’t turning down roles opposite White actresses. He wants to work. You can’t be an actor without getting work.

The easiest way to tell if a bm is for or against bw is whether he is for or against black women dating out or waiting.
The men on clutch make me sick! I don’t even know why the bother to comment they clearly hate black women.

Exactly! Most BM actors are smart enough to take roles regardless of the race of the leading lady. I don’t really blame black actors who are with white actresses in movies because I’ve heard the same thing about the 2 black leads thing. It would be idiotic to turn down a role. Black women take loyalty to whole new levels and its NOT a compliment.

      I’ll definitely check it out!

  2. These Black male idiots who are anti-scandal just need to be ignored. Nobody should care about what stupid crap comes out of their stupid mouths. You are 100% correct that they are only talking this nonsense because the male character is White. They ignore and/or co-sign anti-Black women/girl behavior from & trash comments coming out of the mouths of their fellow idiot Black males in real life and entertainment ALL THE TIME. They are just full of it and truly make me sick.

And I am going to have to disagree about ANY of these Black male actors being “pro” Black woman/girl or wanting to have Black actresses as female leads beside them. Too many of these Black males, actors or not, simply HATE Black women & girls and they freaking need to be called out on it. I wish that was not so taboo to point out, SMH.

I was thinking more along the lines of actors like Will Smith & Denzel Washingtonn. Who have not publicly dissed/emberassed/ shamed black women, (I could be wrong and if I am tell me) and are even married to them. Although I will be the first to admit that these men are few and far between. My point was that I don’t think either Will Smith Or Denzel were responsible for why black women weren’t cast with them. (although again if I am wrong let me know)
